Minutes
The February 2,2027 Park Advisory Board (PAB) meeting was called to order by Mike Whitehill, Chair at
6:00 p.m. viaZoom. The following members and staff were present: Mike Whitehill, Chair; Sandy Simpson,
Secretary; Rich Ryan, Gene Magary, Ryan Holdgreve and Fred McNeil, Members; Shelby Anania, Council
Liaison; Kip Matthews, Director of Public Works; Steve Walls, Town Manager; and Norma Robinson,
Administrative Assistant.
Review and Approval of Preyious Minutes:
a Ms. Simpson made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Ryan, to approve the
November 3,2020 PAB meeting minutes, as presented. The motion passed unanimously

Old Business:
a Mr. Whitehill presented an update of the Wharf project. He advised that redecking the Wharf
boardwalk will begin as soon as the weather breaks. Steps will be placed for easier access to the
boardwalk. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will reinstall the old swing set by Spring.
The Town Council approved increasing the landscape maintenance budget to have Southeast
Lawn & Landscape provide landscaping service at the Wharf.
a Mr. Whitehill advised that Ms. Mileski emailed information to all PAB members regarding her
research from the Chesapeake Audubon Society regarding bird watching. With the current
budget, the project does not seem feasible.
a Mr. McNeil asked if some type of bar could be placed at the kayak launch ramp which will assist
kayakers as they retum.
a Mr. Whitehill discussed restoring the basketball court at Millstream Park. He will discuss
improvements to the court with DPW.
Mr. Whitehill discussed ways to honor the memory of John and Nancy Covert. Suggestions
were; placing a bench along Millstream Trail or planting male and female Holly trees. Mr.
McNeil suggested honoring them at Centreville Elementary School where Mrs. Covert was a
teacher and Mr. Covert provided landscaping. Mr. Whitehill asked Ms. Robinson to contact the
family member who wanted to honor the Covert's for their thoughts and contact the school to see
if there are any policies in place.

New Business:
a Mr. Whitehill welcomed new members, Fred McNeil, Ryan Holdgreve, and Gene Magary to the
PAB and thanked them for their service in the community.
a Ms. Simpson presented the PAB 2020 Anrual Report by email for all to review. Mr. Ryan made
a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Holdgreve, to accept the report as presented. The motion
passed unanimously. Mr. Whitehill asked Ms. Robinson to forward the Annual Report to the
Town Council for their blessings.
a Ms. Robinson reported that the Town received several calls during the Christmas holiday
regarding holiday decorations. Bulbs were out on many decorations and some did not light at all.
Mr. Matthews stated DPW is aware and new decorations are included in the upcoming budget.

Ms. Simpson made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Ryan, to adjoum. The motion passed
unanimously. The February 2,20201PAB meeting adjoumed at 6:53 p.m.
