Resimplifi Property Viewer (with parcel data) - Loves Park, IL Resimplifi Property Viewer (with custom layers) - Lehigh Valley, PA Resimplifi Demographics Dashboard Resimplifi Advanced Analytics Dashboard (Expires in 7 days) ABOUT THE BOOMS TRACKER The Building Opportunities on Main Street (BOOMS) Tracker is an outcome of Main Street America’s “At Home on Main Street” housing research project which has been generously supported by the 1772 Foundation. At Home on Main Street is focused on providing resources to promote housing development in downtowns and commercial corridors. The BOOMS Tracker is an interactive, map-centric tool that allows Main Street leaders to gather, store, and showcase details about properties and businesses in their district. Each user has access to a map view of parcels in their Main Street district. A property survey prompts them to input information about vacancy, use, ownership, conditions, and other characteristics, as well as photos. An aligned business survey prompts them to request or submit data about local businesses such as the business type, number of employees, year established, and more. Users can simply click or tap on a parcel to fill in data and can revisit anytime to add and edit. To explore the data, users have access to live local dashboards that showcase their progress and a selection of property and business indicators. The BOOMS Tracker is accessed via web browsers and designed to be both mobile and desktop friendly. Who is it for? The BOOMS Tracker is available to all U.S.-based downtown and neighborhood-focused organizations following the Main Street Approach. In order to gain access, Main Street America simply needs a record of the geographic boundaries of your Main Street organization. Click here to submit a map of your district. Once we add your program and district to BOOMS, we will send you login credentials so you can start tracking. Each program has a single, unique login that allows them to enter and view their own local data. Coordinating Programs can view data from their member programs, and Main Street America can view data from all programs in the network. Visit the “Getting Started” page for information on user logins and data visibility. Why was it developed? Through the research conducted for “At Home on Main Street,” we recognized the need for a tool that Main Street programs could use to gather, store, and showcase local property data. Most local leaders in our network did not have a reliable system for tracking property-related data, such as vacancies and building ownership. The BOOMS Tracker was designed to streamline the process of interpreting and referencing property data, allowing Main Street programs at the local, regional, and national level to identify and quantify the opportunities in their vacant and idle spaces. An update to the BOOMS Tracker in 2026 expanded data collection to include a business survey that overlays with property information. Both the property and business data can be used for various purposes, including attracting investment and development, advocacy work, understanding business mix and bolstering the leadership role of Main Street programs in their communities. What features are available? • User-friendly interface that visualizes progress • Parcel-level data that can be easily added and updated, including images • Filterable dashboard view of inventoried property data such as buildings by usage and an estimate of additional potential housing units based on vacant spaces • Filterable dashboard view of inventoried businesses including business types and hours of operation • Ability to share digestible local property data with relevant parties such as local government, developers, Main Street boards and new Main Street leaders via dashboards that can be embedded on websites • Scalability for both mobile and desktop devices Main Street America established the BOOMS Tracker as a tool for downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts to quantify potential and activity in vacant and idle spaces. We hope the BOOMS Tracker will illuminate opportunities hidden in plain sight in Main Streets across the United States. BOOMS Tracker Dashboard Background Created by Main Street America, the Building Opportunities on Main Street (BOOMS) Tracker is an interactive, map-centric tool. BOOMS Tracker enables Main Street leaders to efficiently gather, store and update details about buildings and parcels in their district. For the first time, Main Street communities have a reliable system for tracking vacancies and other property-related data, such as building ownership, in their districts – in one place. Interpreting the Data The BOOMS Tracker was also designed to streamline the process of interpreting and referencing property data, allowing Main Street programs at the local, regional, and national level to identify and quantify the opportunities in their vacant and idle spaces. This data can be used for various purposes, including attracting investment and development, advocacy work, and bolstering the leadership role of Main Street programs in their communities. For instance, data on repairs and maintenance needs entered into BOOMs Tracker can help create budgets for façade improvement grants and to substantiate the need in the grant application. Other uses for data include: • Analyzing available housing units to determine needs for new housing initiatives. • Using vacant property information to provide leads for interested operators. • Showcasing upper floor availability to support encouraging property and business owners to move offices to the second floor to keep consumer-facing retail on the street level. • Bringing summary data from BOOMs Tracker into a conversation with the local economic development office to compare information, talk strategy, and collaborate effectively. - Submitted by Centreville Main Street Survey Results Community Survey - Downtown Centreville - 2026 Inactive Last recorded response: 3/20/2026 Total responses: 463 MSA - Community Survey Results - Centreville, Maryland 1 Q1 - How did you find out about and/or receive this survey? 424 Responses In an email or social media post from an organization other than 31% Centreville Main Street Centreville Main Street social media post (Facebook, Instagram, 29% etc.) Centreville Main Street email 12% From a friend or colleague 10% Through a physical poster or sign 9% posted in public Other 6% Local newspaper or radio 2% 0% 5% 10% 15% 20% 25% 30% Q2 - What is your relationship to Downtown Centreville ? QP4 - As a property owner, is there anything else you'd like Centreville Main Street to know? If so, please briefly describe. 6 Responses Yes. The building supposedly being renovated at Water/Commerce is an eyesore and a PR disaster. The "owners" should have known the condition of the building at purchase, and should be legally forced to continue renovation. The snow "clear" was a disgrace, and should not have taken the state and 10 days to get snow off the main roads for parking. More stop sign to ease speeding traffic MSA - Community Survey Results - Centreville, Maryland 12 Lack of parking and too many professional businesses are negative impacts to the downtown area. Many buildings need improvements, but required investment is far greater than any potential income or return would be due to the age of the buildings. The town is far behind ensuring tax and other opportunities exist in the area including opportunity zones, enterprise zones, etc. Stevensville/grasonville, Easton, Cambridge, Salisbury, and Ocean City all have multiple tax and credit overlays they take advantage of, however Centreville does not and is the only town not doing so, thereby loosing out on additional investments that are drawn toward the other towns. I'd like more information on available grants, and if the town is looking to become an Opportunity Zone to encourage revitalization. As an interested investor of property I am discouraged by the state of the properties and the amount of cost/time necessary to bring these properties back to life and be ready to lease. Water bills too expensive The rules for commercial signs are too strict. MSA - Community Survey Results - Centreville, Maryland 15 Unwanted population growth. Balancing the historical features with economic development No Centreville stinks like pot which is awful and I would like to see crossing guards for the kids when schools are dismissed. Unsafe drivers only real problem is that traffic backs up a bit sometimes Hard for small businesses to stay open and sustained. No Lack of nightlife Several eyesores on the way into town - of course the Old Mill, the house that's missing it's siding on the one side, and the storefront right after Ashley insurance Boring Nothing to draw people and activity after 3pm. live in a large neighborhood by downtown and cannot walk to downtown because no sidewalks or trails on 213 It seems like it could be more vibrant. Such a cute town High taxes for what we do kit have No way to walk to town from Northbrook and Three Creeks Leadership out of touch with the wants and needs of the people It’s a shame to see vacant buildings There are very few restaurants and/stores in town to draw people into town. Very disappointing to families that live in town and for those traveling through. Also, existing buildings and many homes are very unkempt. Traffic enforcement Pot factory near town makes entire town smell bad Not enough restaurants the amount of traffic is terrible NA Yes. Since North Brooke was developed and made part of the municipality it is over crowded, the traffic on 213 is just as busy as rt 50 Sidewalks in disrepair or overgrown- hard for strollers and wheelchairs passing thru traffic Stagnant, other towns around us & taking our tourism, Centreville could’ve had “Ridgely Christmas” or any number of the wonderful events in small towns all around us that Centerville has barely moved forward and over 20 years and has been so disappointing! I would hate to see the yellow building on corner of water and commerce knocked down. It's so charming No Centreville is a neighborhood. Those who move here expect it to have conveniences of suburban village. Crosswalks/feeling unsafe trying to cross the street Odor from GTI. Hate the skunk smell. Lack of variety of businesses/restaurants MSA - Community Survey Results - Centreville, Maryland 16 The WWTP and infrastructure are in disrepair. Water breaks out through the streets. Business development not taken seriously Local residents do not support local businesses. They shop where they work. With 70% of work force leaving the county each day for work, there is only a very limited amount of potential customers. The Marijuana smell. The worst thing this stae and country ever did was legalize recreational use and dope shops. Needs to be illegal. The reek of marijuana The old mill rehab too slow, corner of Commerce and Water street empty building. Lack of restaurants and shopping The traffic on Rt 213 is terrible & too many cars not adhering to speed limits (all of downtown area) Lack of incentives for small businesses to open; properties in serious disrepair and not maintained Lack of excitement, Town events lack anything that would draw attendees that would want to visit, live or open businesses in our town. Lack of an organizer for the town that will do events on a regular basis for family and to attract people. Often try to conflict with county events marijuana smell LACK OF RETAIL, CULTURAL SPOTS Boring Events need more advertising… Lack of good restaurants and businesses Needs to have a restaurant/entertainment district and an anchor to attract people. Traffic is also an issue on 213. That's enough to complain about. Let's be a little optimistic . You have a difficult job Storefronts (i.e. Lawyer's Row) that still have christmas decorations up as of 2/18/26. HUGE attitude difference between residents of town and residents of county. Another serious issue is the amount of garbage/trash brought and dumped in the town to get "free" trash pickup. The county's lack of trash pickup has created a big issue for landlords, ditches, roads and all over the town due to dumping. One building empty for years with no explanation of the issues involved. Heavy smells of weed. NA The school board just got a new building which by the looks of it will be a ongoing maintenance but the CHILDREN get mobile unit class rooms for years. Where are the priorities? Typical govt. waste Narrow streets outside of central Centreville Because it is county seat not a lot business opportunities to draw people after 5pm History preservation guidelines should be enacted to preserve authenticity Not much to offer in the way of shopping and entertainment. No good options to eat out Lack of housing across the spectrum -- as a young professional I can't afford anything even close to downtown and I don't see that changing for 30+ years No No serious issues; main issues relate to not living up to potential in terms of businesses. MSA - Community Survey Results - Centreville, Maryland 17 No Downtown Centreville should be accessible by walking/biking paths. Although less than a minute's drive from our community, no safe paths currently exist from the north side of town. There is just nothing beyond the courthouse. Each food place has spotty hours and no “pull” facto to get me to town. More handicap spaces needed traffic Not enough events Mold in the buildings There are clearly mentally ill adult males who wander the town daily. There are a number of group homes in Centreville, and it appears that these folks are encouraged to leave their assigned homes to just wander the streets and hang out in the local parks/playgrounds. Some are clearly in need of better support services, not just warehoused here in our town. Route 213 runs right through downtown, which is heavy traffic road. Food options for those with food allergies. I have celiac disease, and cannot have gluten, there are no options, for dining out, fast food, for easy pickup, excluding seafood. The tax on plastic & paper bags. I don’t shop in Cville anymore if I’m going to bring a bag or buy one. A consumer should be treated with more respect. Not enough businesses and restaurants Plow service Failure to tell history of the town in the actual historical setting. The buildings are there - the stories aren't told. Lack of pubic transportation cab Uber bus rideshare There appears to be a lack of cohesive vision and economic vitality in the downtown area. While it has historic charm and strong potential, there are too many vacant or underutilized spaces and not enough destination businesses to consistently draw foot traffic. Regulatory and permitting requirements may also be discouraging new businesses from opening, and easing unnecessary restrictions could help attract stronger, more diverse establishments. Additionally, the current restaurant options are limited and do not consistently draw visitors from outside the immediate area. Expanding and improving dining options would significantly enhance downtown’s vibrancy and appeal. buildings needing upkeep in trying to understand process to bring a business downtown; I was never really contacted or communicated with. Too strict regulations Safety at Millstream park No variety of stores No, we just need to fill our storefronts Centreville is a classic neoliberal town stuck in the past. We don’t need more fast food chains clogging up our arteries and poisoning our minds, banks or pharmacies. If you don’t want “the youth/low income destroying the town” then build a town that actually supports and invests in everyone’s future. N/a The flow of traffic when schools let out is atrocious. No police presence for wrong way driving and people parking in “no parking” spots MSA - Community Survey Results - Centreville, Maryland 18 Na The lack of policing at the crosswalk Unhoused - so politically corrupt, do you mean homeless? Fix the traffic problem in town. Lower the amount of cops sitting around town by having them actually pull over the loud exhaust people and lights out their cars.. Speeding Not enough storefront spaces available for products. Most of it is service based: lawyers, banks, etc.. I don't see a lot of the problems listed above. Centerville main Street is typical of any small town main Street. It's got as good and it's bad. Everyone raves about Berlin, but Berlin is pricey, touristy, and frankly snobby. Centerville is a main street in a real town. Centreville PD absenteeism. Reported a clearly mentally unwell elderly man driving erratically in a car (behaving erratically out of it as well) with description and vehicle plate, they did nothing about it despite being a few blocks away. No. During business work week- lack of parking for both employees and the public Poor snow removal and preparation There is nothing there No Walk ability The water bills for all of Centreville are outrageous. The quality of the water is also not very good, and the water pressure has been awful lately. Business turnover. Flight of business and poor reputation. Businesses will start the process of opening or renovating and then it just stops mid project. This happens to the houses in that immediate area as well.
