Park Advisory Board Meeting - Minutes Ilune7,2022* 6:00 PM Town Hall, 101 Lawyers Row The June 7 ,2022 Park Advisory Board (PAB) meeting was called to order by Mike Whitehill, Chair at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting Room. The following members and staff were present: Mike Whitehill, Chair; Gene Magary, Vice Chair; Sandy Simpson, Secretary; Priscilla Mileski, Ryan Holgreve, and Rich Ryan, members; and Norma Robinson, Administrative Assistant. Review and Anproval of Previous Minutes: Minutes from the May 3,2022 meeting were emailed for review. Mr. Ryan made a motion, which was seconded by Ms. Mileski, to approve the May 3,2022PA8 meeting minutes. The motion passed by a unanimous vote. Citizens Comments: o None AlrDearances: . None Old Business: Mr. Whitehill presented an overview of the Wharf Park project. The new picnic tables and grills for the Wharf have arrived. The tables are eight-foot-long metal tables with one handicap accessible table. Water has been connected to the six power-towers at the dock and two yard- hydrants. Mr. Whitehill advised that the Town still has available grant funding left which could be used for new swing sets or bulletin cases. A bulletin case can be displayed on each pavilion for notice of reservation or regulations. Mr. Whitehill advised that he spoke to several parents to get opinions about new swing sets. They all agreed that additional swing sets are needed but they did not like the bucket swing or toddlers swing as they are bulky and cumbersome. After discussion, Mr. Magary made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Ryan, to purchase four bulletin cases for the Wharf pavilions and four additional swing sets; two swings for ages 2-5 and two swings for ages 5-12. One of each swing set will be placed at Millstream Park and the Wharf. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Whitehill advised that Town Council mentioned Phase II of the Millstream Trail at their last Council meeting and people have begun to inquire and they seem excited. Discussion on the trail project is moving forward. w/boardfAB/minurev2022, J\ne 1, 2022 Ms. Mileski discussed planting daffodils along Millstream Trail and getting the public involved by donating bulbs and assisting with planting. She asked how best to get the word out to drop off donations in August and September. Suggestions included speaking with Ms. D'Agostino to have the information placed on Facebook, including information in the Town circular and Town email blast. Mr. Whitehill asked Ms. Mileski to draft a notice as to what is being done and what the Board is looking for so when the information goes out people are informed. Ms. Mileski asked if a small pocket park can be placed on the East side of Town near Pennsylvania Avenue. Mr. Whitehill has plans showing the possibility of a pocket park in that area. He will share those plans via email. Neu llusincss: o Mr. Ryan suggested placing a handicap parking sign at the Wharf parking lot and the playground r Ms. Robinson stated that the office often gets calls regarding no water at Millstream Park. Mr. Whitehill stated fixing the water spigot should be on the jobs to do [ist. He will speak with Mr. Matthews conceming the matter. o Mr. Whitehill advised that Queen Anne's County has requested an amendment to the Town's Water & Sewer allocation policy. They are looking to obtain water and sewer for the White Marsh Park at Route 213. The County and Town are in dialogue regarding this matter. Discussion: Weather permitting, the next PAB meeting will be in-person at the Wharf on July 5,2022. Reports: .
