Re: Water Tower Maintenance – Award of Bid Proposal
Date: April 13, 2023
An invitation for bid was requested from the Department of Public Works for a five (5) year
service contract for the maintenance of the Town of Centreville water towers. Bid packages were
made available on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. There were eight (8) companies that attended
the mandatory on-site pre-bid meeting held on Friday, March 17, 2023. The invitation for bid
was closed and submitted bids were read publicly on Friday, March 31, 2023. There were three
(3) companies who submitted proposals.
An addendum was issued after the initial proposal was posted, adding a clause that the Town
would consider an extension to a longer-term contract, as suggested by the companies
submitting proposals. The initial agreement will start the five (5) year commitment, with the
understanding it can be extended to a ten (10) year contract. There is a clause to terminate the
contract at any time, with ample notice.
Staff recommends the award to Southern Corrosion for $38,653.00 per year, for the first five (5)
year agreement.
