These are the minutes of the January 19, 2022 Centreville Planning Commission meeting where the commission approved prior meeting minutes and reviewed a special exception request to expand the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center at 500 Little Hut Drive. The commission unanimously forwarded a favorable recommendation to the Board of Appeals, noting the expansion increases building area (from just under ~27,000 sq ft to ~61,000 sq ft) to meet state incarceration and medical standards without increasing the 148-bed capacity, and includes site changes (relocated cul-de-sac, new parking, 25-ft lighting, a 16-ft non-climbable perimeter fence with razor ribbon) with construction planned as a roughly two-year project to be bid in early 2023.
