At the Jan. 5, 2023 Centreville Town Council meeting (Vice President Ashley Kaiser presiding) the Council unanimously approved the Dec. 1 minutes, heard no citizen comments, and presented trophies to winners of the 2022 Christmas Tree Decorating Contest and Christmas Parade. The Council read and discussed three proposed charter amendment resolutions (changing the Chief of Police reporting structure, updating merit‑system references, and codifying unclassified/classified service) with questions about hiring/reporting language; staff and board reports noted MML legislative priorities, a remaining Waterway Improvement Fund balance of $36,945.44 with possible uses (additional boat slips or picnic tables/design work), the launch of the Centreville Festivities and Beautification Team, and a Comprehensive Plan public hearing set for Jan. 18.
