The Economic Development Commission met May 27, 2026, approved the agenda and April minutes, received a treasurer’s report showing an EDC account balance of $8,269.24, heard county commissioner updates (including a 3% property tax decrease and new moratoriums on sewer projects and data centers), and received a detailed presentation on the county sewer moratorium and proposed sewer allocation plan. The sewer overview reported only 150,000 gallons remaining in the 3-million-gallon plant, a task force recommendation to allocate re-rating capacity (noted as 125,000 gallons for Marlin Farms and Dominion, 25,000 gallons for failing septic systems, and 50,000 gallons split between commercial and residential), discussion of a proposed 10,000-gallon daily residential cap (estimated to limit new housing to about 400 homes), and next steps to share allocation schedules with the EDC; subcommittees and liaison updates (travel & tourism action plan, Kent Narrows text amendments, Chamber events, Chesapeake College) were also reported before adjournment at 10:36 am.
